From woodwork to water jets to paint shop, the RSC's Scenic Workshop is a hive of activity that allows our productions to move from a concept to reality.
We are looking for a Workshop and Logistics Assistant to join our Scenic Workshop in a varied and busy role, where no two days are the same, one day could see you acting as a driver's mate, another day you could be assisting the carpenters, then labouring around the workshop and keeping it tidy whilst carrying out daily checks on the machines. This work will involve lifting and moving of large, heavy items.
Some of the responsibilities will include:
- Movement and storage of materials, scenic items, and props:
- Move and prepare materials for workshops, shows and rehearsals.
- Drive forklift and Mobile Elevating Works Platforms (MEWPs)
- Work with drivers, loading, and unloading scenic and technical equipment
- Drive company vehicles, locally and across the UK.
- Organise, maintain, and catalogue items in and out of storage.
- Maintain a high level of housekeeping across the workshop.
Most importantly you'll bring:
- The ability to work as part of a team.
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use own initiative and work under pressure to deadlines.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Friendly and approachable manner.
- Pro-active and flexible approach to work.
- Ability to comply with written procedures and policies.
This position is based at our workshop, on Timothy's Bridge Road, on the outskirts of Stratford-upon-Avon. There may be some travel to London and other theatres, depending on the demands of each production.
This is a full-time, permanent position which offers you the opportunity to learn new skills in a variety of areas, where the working hours for this role are 44 per week, Monday to Friday. However, some occasional evenings and weekends maybe required.
