Job summary

We are looking to recruit hardworking,enthusiastic individuals to join our Catering Team based in the at Fieldhead Hospital.

The successful post holderwill be required to provide a safe, nutritious, and exciting mealservice to service users, staff and visitors.You will be responsible for management duties in the catering servicewhich includes the supervision, rota prepartion, monitoring and recording of sicknessand the training of catering staff.

The post holder will be required to work as part of a team in a fast-pacedenvironment and you will be able to use your initiative to prioritise and organisedaily duties. You will maintain aprofessional approach and comply with all relevant policies and procedures.

Staff uniform will be provided.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of a teamthat provides safe and nutritious meal service to service users, staff andvisitors. This includes the day to daysupervision of catering staff. You willbe responsible for the monitoring and ordering of stock in the CateringDepartment.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Tomanage the Catering service within own area of responsibility, including thesupervision and training of Catering staff.

Ensurea safe and nutritious meal service to Service Users, staff and the public inline with the NHS plan for better hospital food. Plan and provide a special event programme forService Users.

Authorisingsignatory for time sheets, overtime and sickness/absence forms.

Dayto day supervision of Catering staff.

Responsiblefor monitoring and recording stock levels within the Catering Department andreordering as and when necessary.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Level 2 Food Safety Certificate. Level 3 Food Safety Certificate (or achieve within agreed timeframe). Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management or equivalent (or commitment to work towards). Allergen training*. NVQ Level 2 Customer Service*.

Desirable

Certificate in Leadership and Management level 3 or equivalent.

Experience

Essential

Demonstrable supervisory experience. Working knowledge of Health and Safety and Risk Assessments.

Desirable

Knowledge of NHS Plan for better hospital food.

Physical Attributes

Essential

A satisfactory sickness record over previous 2 years (subject to the need to act with fairness and equality of opportunity, particularly where sickness is related to a disability and/or pregnancy). Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements for the post (with reasonable adjustments if necessary).

Training

Essential

Basic understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel. Commitment to undertake relevant training commensurate to the job role.

Special Knowledge/Skills

Essential

Ability to motivate and encourage staff. Ability to liaise confidently with colleagues, staff and peers. Demonstrate good communication skills both verbal and written. Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise own workload and that of others. Ability to work as a member of a team and promote team working. Ability to deliver on the job training. Demonstrate experience of customer service.
