Job summary

We have a rare fantastic opportunity to join our Children's Therapy department. We are a well-established, friendly team looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Band 7 Physiotherapist to lead our Mainstream schools Service. This is a part-time post of 18 hours

You will see children and young people with a wide variety of neurological, neuromuscular and neurodegenerative conditions. You will be expected to manage a large, complex and varied caseload of community-based patients in a variety of locations such as The Child Development Centre, homes and schools and you will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the overall service as required

Main duties of the job

As well as managing a large and varied caseload of school age children you will update and expand on existing protocols, pathways and guidelines for the management of conditions, in line with the best evidence available. You will manage the Mainstream schools physio service area and line manage a band 6 member of staff.

Job responsibilities

To provide day to day line management to a team of staff in a hospital setting.

To plan and co-ordinate caseloads and activities for a designated area, making adjustments as required.

To assess, develop and implement physiotherapy treatment utilising specialist theoretical knowledge and relevant practical experience within Paediatric Neurological service.

To undertake lead responsibility of the supervision, training and appraisal of assistant practitioners, unqualified staff, peers and colleagues of specialist and physiotherapy practitioner grades and physiotherapy students.

Working without direct supervision using own initiative to interpret operational policies and procedures.

To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner, working within the ethical framework provided by the rules of professional conduct.

To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with complex presentations, to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.

To be the main person initiating and co-ordinating changes to working practice and service delivery
