A rare opportunity has arisen at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for a Lead Directorate Lead Nurse for Clinical Research and Development. 

The OUH provides expert care for the Thames Valley for common tumour types, and for a wider region for rarer indications. The Oncology and Haematology Directorate covers several core services which are:

An early phase clinical trials unit Late phase Oncology and haematology trials delivery units Oncology - including an Oncology ward, teenage and young adult unit and Radiotherapy department  Haematology - including a Haematology ward, Bone Marrow Transplant service and patient hotel Emergency triage service, two chemotherapy day treatment units and an ambulatory unit Palliative Care  Radiation Physics and Protection, Clinical Measurement and Clinical Engineering The department has close links with the University of Oxford, and Cancer Research UK

We are looking to appoint a passionate, enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic individual who has a wealth of clinical experience, leadership and management of staff and a commitment to service delivery. Main duties of the job

The role of lead Nurse will:

Lead and develop the projects, programmes and audits required to deliver the clinical research service and ensure the systematic provision of research integrated with high-quality and safe patient care. Will work closely with matrons and nursing leads of clinical areas to develop new or modify current nursing posts in clinical areas to enable research delivery Be specifically responsible for the professional line management of senior research nursing operational team Provide expert nursing clinical leadership, work autonomously within professional guidelines and act as an expert practitioner in cancer clinical trials nursing Instigate innovative and evidence-based practice within the clinical research teams and the wider directorate Exercise senior responsibility and leadership for the systematic governance including annual audits and safety of clinical research activity across the directorate Ensure that systems are in place and working effectively for the clinical and professional support for all relevant staff working in the service. Act as a resource in this specialist field by supervision, teaching and implementation of policy, provision of strategic planning and relevant service development. With the research and development senior team, to contribute as an ambassador for the directorate through communication of clinical trial issues, present specialist information across the department, trust and local clinical research network.
