Job summary

We have the opportunity for appropriately trained Emergency Practitioner(s) (EP) to join our amazing team of Enhanced and Advanced level Practitioners within the Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC) Directorate at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust (NWAFT).

We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated NMC/HCPC Registered Nurse's, Paramedics or Physiotherapists with the right attributes and a passion for Acute Injury and Minor Illness management to work alongside our multidisciplinary team within the integrated Urgent Treatment Care (iUTC) at Peterborough City Hospital (PCH) and the Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) at Stamford and Rutland Hospital.

Consideration maybe given to part-qualified applicants (minimum Advanced Clinical Assessment and either a Minor injury or Illness qualification) but if successful, pay grade and a development plan would require to be agreed.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will practice at an Enhanced levelalongside a multidisciplinary team within either the integrated Emergency Department (ED) minor's area and Urgent Treatment Centre (iUTC) at Peterborough City Hospital (PCH) and a Practitioner led Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) at Stamford and Rutland Hospital (SRH).

The post holder will be able to manage undifferentiated and undiagnosed patients presenting to their area(s) of work within a defined but extended scope of practice.

This clinically focussed role will result in the post holder providing specialised exemplary patient-centred and evidenced based care. The post holder will provide clinician advice and support to junior clinicians during a span of duty.

Modelled on Health Education Englands (HEE) Emergency Practitioner framework (attached/link below). We are able to support successful candidate(s) with further academic study, ordering and interpretation of appropriate investigations, developing technical skills and undertaking practical procedures. This role also attracts 10% Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) time for Practitioners to undertake personal and service development. Therefore, we look for the candidate(s) with the right attributes and characteristics for our team. We will assess people not only on their academic and technical achievements but on their non-technical and communication skills.

Our EPs also spend time teaching, training, supporting and developing trainee and junior staff from nursing, medical and allied healthcare professional backgrounds as part of their role.
