Specialist Nurse Immunology

London, United Kingdom Great Ormond Street Hospital Full time
Job overview

Due to continuous growth across the Immunology service and specifically across the novel therapies field, we are looking to recruit a motivated, enthusiastic Band 6 nurse to join our creative and skilled team.

The Immunology service at GOSH leads on pioneering Thymus Transplantation and Gene Therapy, alongside growing novel therapies and an established immunoglobulin replacement service. Research and innovation are embedded in our clinical practice, and we are proud to be part of the national pilot programme for newborn screening for Severe Combined Immunodeficiency. We offer cutting-edge, complex and lifesaving treatments, sustained by excellent medical and multi-disciplinary specialist care.

The Immunology Nursing team consists of Band 6 & 7 Clinical Nurse Specialists, research nurses and specialist nurses who manage designated cohorts of patients. We are an experienced, dynamic, and friendly team who always place the child first and centre of the care delivery. Across the team we provide expert care and support to children, young people, and families with a wide range of Primary Immune Deficiencies. Our work is rewarding, as we facilitate children’s positive healthcare experience and build meaningful relationships with families.

For an informal discussion, please contact:
Jinhua Xu-Bayford, CNS – Gene Therapy/ Immunology; Team Lead Ext 38426,  and

The post also offers the opportunity to develop highly specialised skills and knowledge including venepuncture, donor screening and informed consent procedures. The post holder will be empowered to gain independence in managing their unique cohort of children over time, within the environment of a supportive team.

Effective communication and excellent organizational skills are essential. Demonstrable evidence of supporting and teaching patients/families and other staff is desirable, but training will be provided as needed.
