Thepurpose of the role:
As an Associate Directoryou will take a leadership role on planning projects andcoordinating and overseeing projects. You will be an ambassador forthe company undertaking business development through building uponexisting client relationships and actively seeking opportunitiesfor future business whilst also taking a leadership role indeveloping the teams core competencies assisting the RegionalDirector in the daytoday management of the team and undertakingdirect line management responsibilities as directed by the RegionalDirector.

- Demonstrateseffective management of staff and direct reports not solely on aproject basis.
- Takes responsibility for linemanagement coaching mentoring training wellbeing and theperformance management of more junioremployees
- Assists in the technical developmentof staff coaching and mentoring ontechnical
- Assisting with others gainingprofessional accreditation.
- Participates inappraisals for more junior employees.
- Supportsand encourages collaboration and innovation in order to deliverexcellence
- Champions the Lanpro client centricagenda internally and externally.
- Establishesconsolidates and builds on relationships with new and existingclients and colleagues.
- Ensures clientexpectations are managed appropriately and that their needs areidentified and met (or exceeded)
- Providestechnical input into projects and bids and uses technical knowledgeto identify and realise new clientopportunities.
- Responsible for negotiatingmajor contracts with customers/clients and or suppliers/contractorsincluding managing legal and contractualaspects.
- Develops business opportunities withnew and existing clients with little or no support and demonstratesexcellent judgement and ability in targeting strategic andprofitable jobs.
- Makes decisions at a tacticallevel with some strategic input to overall functional strategy andregional Business Plan
- Freedom to makedecisions affecting the function within the overall businessstrategy.
- Has a strong professional profile andreputation both internally and within the industry and utilisesthis effectively to leverage businessopportunities.
- Day to day line management ofjunior team members to ensure effective utilisation of team membersand delivery of project outcomes.
- Performs achallenging range and variety of complex technical and professionalactivities in the pursuit of project excellence. Ensures complianceand adherence to all applicable SHEQ procedures for self andothers.
- Takes a key role in projects withinrelevant specialist field.
- Manages the deliveryof specialised components of projects.
- Projectmanaging a mix of large and complex planningsubmissions
- Project managing planning appealsincluding appearing at appeal hearings and/or as an expert witnessat appeal inquiries.
- Performing strategicplanning research and policy development including assessments ofdevelopment potential.
- Undertaking siteinspections and assessing the merits ofproposals.
- Giving guidance toengineers/architects on the production of drawings andsupplementary information in relation to planningsubmissions.
- Providing strategic projectmanagement input including financialmanagement.
- Providing senior leadership withinthe Planning Division
- Maintaining continuingprofessional development in accordance with the requirements of theRTPI.
- AnRTPI accredited degree or Masters in a relateddiscipline
- A chartered member of the Royal TownPlanning Institute
- Will have spent considerabletime working in the planning industry ideally including someexperience of working in the private sector and experience ofdirectly managing staff or leading ateam.
- Excellentcommunication skills and influencingabilities
- Strong client management andresolution including the ability to present at senior levels andacross a range of stakeholders.
- Expertnegotiation and commercial skills coupled with strong commercialknowledge.
- Excellent project management skillscoupled with timeliness and accuracy
- Strongreport writing skills and ability to review colleagues workproviding constructive feedback
- A strongawareness of local politics and the interface between planning andpolitics.
- Exemplary knowledge and expertise ofplanning practice legislation across England and Wales.
- A natural ability to explain and discussplanning issues for variedaudience
