Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Solution Architect tojoin the team in Technology Strategy and Architecture (TSA) whichfocusses on our Monetary Policy Financial Stability and PrudentialRegulation area (MP FS & PRA).

Thisis a fantastic opportunity to shape the current and futuretechnical landscape of the Bank where you will work as part of asmall team to help deliver an ambitious change agenda.

The role holder will work within the existing team andwill be responsible for:
Providing solution architecturedesign work on current & future MP FS & PRAprojects
Helping develop the strategic view of the MP FS& PRA estate encompassing people process information andtechnology.
This area of the Bank is very data centricso extensive knowledge of data solutions and their use in economicand regulatory environments is required. Additionally knowledge ofcloud (Azure) and migration of data solutions to the cloud is alsonecessary.

This role will report into theBank’s Principal Architect for MP FS & PRA whohas overall responsibility for solution design and strategicartefacts.

Job description

• As Solution Architect the roleresponsibilities will be to:
• Lead thesolution design and architecture for complex projects from conceptto execution.
• Identify endtoend solutionsthat align with industry standards & best practice(architecture quality & risk) the Bank’s securitypolicies and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Understand business imperatives to ensure technicalsolutions meet requirements for performance scalability andreliability whilst remaining aligned to the business and technologystrategies.
• Participate in the strategicgovernance of projects and programmes; including where necessarychallenging decisions that compromise the architecture visionprovide clear advice and decisions to both colleagues andstakeholders.
• Providing technical leadershipand guidance to the wider technology and project teams ensuringadherence to architectural principles standards and best practicesacross the full delivery lifecycle.
•Represent TSA within the Bank of England in terms of communicatingarchitecture decisions & developments.
• Develop comprehensive architecture blueprints &roadmaps covering the Bank’s evolving technologylandscape with a focus on reuse rationalisation simplification anddecommissioning.
• Work with solution anddomain architects to maintain technology roadmaps that align to theenterprise architecture principles vision and strategy.
• Support the Head of Enterprise Architecture in clearlypromoting the vision goals and strategy of enterprise architectureoutside of the architectural community in nontechnicalterms.
• Staying abreast of emergingtechnologies and industry trends; recommending adoption of newtechnologies where appropriate.
• ApplyEnterprise Architecture techniques and use modelling tools (e.g.Sparx iServer) to advance and articulate business and technologystrategies.
• Support the development andfuture planning of the enterprise architecture of the Bank. Youwill be part of a team that drives and builds our Architecturepractice by providing leadership to a large multidisciplinaryorganisation.

Essential Skills andExperience:

• Bachelor’sor Master’s Degree in Computer Science InformationTechnology or a related field
• Minimum of 5years’ experience in a solution architect role(s) inlarge scale complex technology programmes and strategic initiativesin the Banking or Financial Services industry
•Strong experience of producing architectural blueprints andsolution design documentation spanning: Services ApplicationsIntegration Technology Security and Data
•Expertise in the application of architectural thinking evaluatingdesign options recognising architectural significance anddeveloping abstracted views of processes business systems and/orfunctions
• Extensive knowledge in data centricenvironments
• Extensive experience with Cloudcomputing platforms (e.g. AWS Azure) and their use in Financial /Economic / Regulatory services organisations
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the abilityto collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams andstakeholders
• Strong analytical andproblemsolving abilities with attention to detail and a focus ondelivery highquality solutions.
• Experience ofworking with architectural frameworks (e.g. TOGAFZachman).
• Experience of working within bothWaterfall and Agile delivery environments.
•Experience of designing solutions for cloud environments and/ormigrating existing solutions to cloud.
•Experience of working in a Large Enterprise or FTSE 100organisation or significant public sector organisations.

Qualifications
CITP or CEng or equivalentrounded IT experience
TOGAF or equivalent relatedbusiness technology architect qualification
Membershipof relevant architecture / IT professional associations (e.g. BCSIASA)
