Description

IT Project Manager (Facilities Infrastructure) - Submarines

Full time

Derby, Raynesway

Why Rolls-Royce?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an IT Project Manager (Facilities) to join our Submarines sector. In this role you will take full responsibility for the definition, documentation, and completion of medium-scale multi-year projects, representing the IT function in cross-functional new Facilities project teams.

We’re a leader in propulsion system design and development for the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarine fleet and the sole provider and technical authority.

Join us and we’ll provide an environment where you can be yourself. An inclusive, digital-first culture that invests in you, gives you a platform for continuous learning, and access to an incredible breadth and depth of opportunities to grow your career.

As our IT Project Manager (Facilities Infrastructure) you will be developing, elaborating, and managing IT project estimates and budgets.

We offer excellent development, a competitive salary and exceptional benefits. These include bonus, employee support assistance and employee discounts.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

What you will be doing:

You will take full responsibility for the definition, documentation and completion of multi-year Facilities IT projects spanning infrastructure and system deployments.

Be identifying, assessing, and managing risks to the success of the project. Developing and managing the IT element of the schedule, including cross-function and cross-supplier dependency management. Ensuring that project quality plans are prepared and maintained and providing regular and accurate reports to stakeholders as appropriate. Ensuring that quality reviews occur on schedule and according to procedure. Managing the change control procedure, and ensuring that project deliverables are completed within planned cost, timescale, and resource budgets, and signed off. Providing effective leadership to the project team, managing escalations, and taking appropriate action were team performance deviates from agreed tolerances.

Who we are looking for:

At Rolls-Royce we embrace agility, are bold, pursue collaboration and seek simplicity in everything we do. These principles form our values and behaviours and are an essential component of our assessment process and are fundamental qualities that we seek for all roles.

Degree qualified or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline, with chartered status preferred. Demonstrated project leadership in delivering a range and variety of complex technical and/or professional work activities/projects using structured programme methodologies covering technical, financial and quality aspects and ideally involving business transformations. Domain experience in physical IT / accommodation / new facility / shop floor infrastructure deployments. Proven ability to plan, schedule and monitor work to meet time and quality targets. Experience of leading and working in a multi-party environment and managing distributed teams, selecting appropriately from applicable standards, methods, tools and applications. Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences and to maintain an awareness of developing technologies and their application and takes some responsibility for driving own development.

We’re an equal opportunities employer. We’re committed to developing a diverse workforce and an inclusive working environment. We believe that people from different backgrounds and cultures give us different perspectives. And the more perspectives we have, the more successful we’ll be. By building a culture of respect and appreciation, we give everyone who works here the opportunity to realise their full potential.

Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL.
