English Graduate Teaching Assistant – Cheadle, Stockport

Teaching Personnel is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Graduate to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Cheadle, Stockport, as a Teaching Assistant. This full-time position begins in October and runs through the end of the academic year, with the possibility of the role becoming permanent based on performance. The role offers a competitive pay range of £419.25 - £500 per week.

Role Overview:

As an English Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support the English department in delivering high-quality lessons that inspire and engage students. This position is ideal for recent English graduates looking to gain experience in education, with a potential pathway into teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Support: Assist the classroom teacher in delivering English lessons, providing support to ensure that all students can access and understand the curriculum.

  • Small Group and One-to-One Interventions: Work with small groups or individual students who require additional help, focusing on areas such as reading comprehension, writing skills, and literary analysis.

  • Resource Development: Help prepare lesson materials and resources, ensuring they are tailored to meet the diverse needs of students.

  • Progress Tracking: Monitor student progress, providing feedback to the teacher and contributing to the planning of intervention strategies to support student development.

  • Fostering a Love for English: Encourage students to develop a passion for reading and writing, helping them to improve their skills and build confidence in the subject.

  • Supporting Classroom Management: Assist in maintaining a positive and focused classroom environment, helping to manage student behavior and ensure a productive learning atmosphere.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A recent English graduate with a strong academic background and a passion for literature and language.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and effectively.
  • A proactive, adaptable, and patient approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A genuine interest in working with young people and helping them achieve their academic goals.
  • Previous experience working with young people, whether in a school setting or through tutoring, is desirable but not essential.
