Graduate Teaching Assistant

Location: Washington

Graduate Teaching Assistant Salary: £75 to £100 per day

Start Date: September term of 2024

GSL Education’s Newcastle branch is seeking enthusiastic graduates to join our client schools as a Primary Level Teaching Assistant for the upcoming September 2024 term. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience and support students in their progress.

Graduate Teaching Assistant Job Summary: A Graduate Teaching Assistant will work closely with faculty members to support their teaching efforts within a specific academic department or program. The primary responsibilities include helping in course instruction, conducting tutorials or lab sessions, grading assignments and exams, and aiding with students.

Graduate Teaching Assistant Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of lessons under the guidance of subject teacher.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them to achieve their academic goals.
  • Create a supportive learning environment.
  • Support teacher in assessing student progress and maintaining records of achievement.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Assist students with additional educational needs, including SEMH, ASC, MLD, and ADHD.
  • Support the school’s behavior management policies to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support subject teachers in maintaining classroom discipline and engagement.

The Essential Requirements for Successful Graduate Teaching Assistant:

  • A degree in Education, or a relevant subject area, is preferred but not essential.
  • Enthusiasm for working with children and a commitment to their educational development.
  • Adaptability and a willingness to learn and grow professionally.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Must have enthusiasm, patience, and a passion for education.
  • Show a keen interest in pursuing a career in education.
  • Adapt effectively to varying classroom dynamics and educational settings.
  • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
