Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Breast Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the breast care nursing team, Full time hours, however part time/job share could be considered. These hours will be worked flexibly to cover service need. Whilst based in Colchester there may be occasional need to work across ESNEFT. You must be committed to undertake relevant training courses and achieve competencies.

You will be caring and compassionate with a committed attitude to be able to respond positively and flexibly to the challenges of delivering this service. You must be able to work autonomously, as part of a small team and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. You must be enthusiastic, motivated and driven to provide high quality and high standards of care. Previous clinical nurse specialist experience is not essential, as training will be provided, however you would ideally have some experience in the surgical or oncology field.

Main duties of the job

You will be a key member of the team and make an important contribution to the care and management of patients with breast problems including those undergoing treatment for primary breast cancer, by providing support and specialist nursing advice to the patients, their relatives and other health care professionals. You will also support those who attend assessment recall from the NHS Breast Screening Programme. Following the national initiative, you will contribute to providing patient centred follow up.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Current registration on part 1 of the NMC register BSc(Hons) in related subject or undertaking a degree pathway Evidence of continued professional development Evidence of mentoring and coaching

Desirable

Specialist long course in breast care at degree level Advanced Communication skills Psychological level 2 training Training and competence in micro-pigmentation or willing ness to undertake

Experience

Essential

Relevant post registration experience with significant experience at Band 5 or above preferably in an oncology/ surgical environment Ability to empathise and provide advice to patients and their carers Ability to work independently and use initiative Experience of multi-professional working

Desirable

Current/ recent experience of caring for patients with breast disorders Experience of teaching Ability to support and influence change
