An opportunity has arisen for a Pharmacy Technician to join our expanding medicines management team at Middle Chare Medical Group. This is a full time fixed term role for 1 year with a potential permanent role.
Main duties of the job
Manageincoming medication requests
Assistingthe Practice admin team/s with medication queries.
Liaisewith patients to resolve queries and support their use of medication
Contributetowards improvement of prescribing processes in general practice
Promotionof electronic repeat dispensing and online ordering
Carryout housekeeping whilst in patient records dose optimisation and medicines synchronisation
Toutilise GP practice clinical systems to conduct prescribing audits
Toundertake, participate and share the outcomes of clinical audits to facilitate improvement and changes in practice
Support the role of the Clinical Pharmacist onthe delivery of the new Primary Care Networks specification model
Whereapplicable, contribute/participate in practice meetings, patient participationgroups, and other meetings to improve engagement of the role of pharmacytechnician and to promote issues relevant to prescribing and medicines optimisation
To beresponsible for the organisation and planning of own workloadto meet set deadlines
Toundertake learning and developmentto maintain the required knowledge and skillsfor practice based work
Tocarry out other duties which are appropriate to the skills and competencies of the post holder and grade of thepost as the priorities of the service change
About us
Middle Chare Medical Group is made up of 2 GP surgeries in Washington and Chester le Street. With 10500 patients our team consists of 4 Partners, 1 Salaried GP, 3 Advanced Nurse practitioners and a well established nursing and admin team. We are looking to expand our medicines management team which includes 2 Pharmacists and 1 senior manager. We are a busy practice with a CQC rating of good and high QOF achievers.

Job responsibilities
This is a new PharmacyTechnician role. The role is to support the Practice based Clinical Pharmacists toensure the delivery of safe, effective and efficient systems for repeat prescribing,medicines optimisation, reducing medicines waste and maximising patientoutcomes.
The post holder will work aspart of a multi-disciplinary team and support all Practice staff to develop andimprove processes. Innovative ideas are welcomed, and excellent communicationskills, enthusiasm and motivation are essential skills for a successfulcandidate. A key part of the role will be dealing with daily medicationrequests and queries, and communicating with patients and Community Pharmacies.
In addition, the post holderwill be responsible for encouraging the development of better understanding of the principles of medicines optimisation throughout the practiceteams and promoting good practice in line with therapeutic developments. This will involveassisting the Practices inachieving national requirements, NICE implementation and utilisation ofmedicines optimisation initiatives.

Qualifications

Professional registration with GPhC BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences Evidence of continued professional development (CPD) Experience of working as a qualified, registered pharmacy technician in primary care, community or hospital pharmacy Demonstrate ability to influence and persuade partners and stakeholders of the respective merits of different options, innovations, new opportunities and challenges
Desirable
Postgraduate qualifications of a relevant nature. FdSc in Medicines Management/Pharmacy Services; BTEC Therapeutics
Knowledge and Understanding
