Teaching Personnel is currently looking for SEN Teaching Assistants to join one of our client schools in Glossop. This would be an ideal position for a Psychology Graduate, looking to start a career in education, or gain experience working with children with special needs.

For this position, it is essential that you are willing to apply for a fully enhanced DBS check, and that you are able to provide at least two employment-based references. It is also important that you are aware of safeguarding procedures.

This position will be a full-time position, starting in September. Predominantly, you will be working on a one-to-one basis or with small groups of students who have autism, ADHD, or other moderate learning difficulties. You must have a good understanding of the behavioural traits that the pupils may display such as uncooperative behaviour. Behaviour management is central to this position. 9% of this school’s student population receive additional SEN support, with 2% of these pupils having an Educational Healthcare Plan (EHCP). Assisting pupils with their EHCPs will also be an important part of this position.

The salary for this position will be between £385 and £450 per week.

The school is in a relatively affluent area, the proportion of pupils who are eligible for free school meals is about the same as the national average. 43% of their student population are leaving year 11, having achieved a grade 5 or higher in both Maths and English. This is 5% lower than the national average.
