Job Description

The Middle Office teams are accountable for ensuring all public market-based strategies are executed in an effective and efficient manner, from trade booking to maturity/settlement.   The group is cross-asset and provides support for a range of products including but not limited to OTC & cleared derivatives, listed securities, collateral, and securities financing (lending/borrowing) products.

The Associate will be expected to provide quality support for the firm’s public market trading strategies through the booking, reconciliation, settlement, and support of assigned products/trades.  Additionally, the Associate would be expected physically sit with their assigned trading desk to act as single point of contact to the Middle Office teams to ensure timely booking and settlement of public market trades and lifecycle events. 

The position will require interaction with various investment professionals and global counterparties as well as superior time-management skills. Team-Specific Accountabilities:

  • Ensure assigned products/trades are enriched & booked within our IBOR within prescribed timelines
  • Ensure assigned products/trades are matched & settled within prescribed timelines; investigate & resolve discrepancies between IBOR/ABOR & custodian accounts and counterparties
  • Work with Traders, Middle Office teams, and counterparties to investigate and resolve trade-related issues including but not limited to booking errors, missing trade details & technology issues
  • Assess the impact of new/amended transactions on reporting, infrastructure, and up/downstream consumers (Portfolio Managers, Accounting, Profit/Loss, etc.) and communicate impacts prior to Start of Day (Toronto-time)
  • Development and maintenance of trade-related metrics, insights, and management reporting
  • Contributes to the development of a global and robust operating model, built on best practices, for trade lifecycle management

  • Progressive career development & demonstratable investment understanding and/or experience within middle office, preferably with a focus on trade lifecycle management across global markets & asset classes
  • Direct experience with trade booking, reconciliations, and settlements across global markets
  • Demonstratable experience with identifying value-add/process efficiency opportunities and participation in implementation of same
  • Experience with any of the following: Murex, Simcorp, Traiana, Equilend, Bloomberg AIM, Omgeo, CTM, GTSS
  • Proven ability to structure communications, both written & verbal, to raise and resolve issues across all levels of the organization
  • Self-motivated, agile, and the ability to approach a constantly changing business & environment through innovation and creativity
  • Demonstrable experience with motivating & apprenticing peers and more junior teammates while ensuring your own deliverables are met
