Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant - Secondary

Location: Gateshead, Tyne and Wear

Pay rate: £75 - £100 per day

The Role:

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant in a secondary school, you will play a crucial role in providing targeted support to students with SEMH needs. Your role will involve assisting teachers, working one-on-one with students, and helping create a nurturing environment where all students can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEMH needs in overcoming barriers to learning and achieving their academic potential.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to implement personalized support plans.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, providing emotional and social support as needed.
  • Assist in managing behavior and promoting positive behavior strategies within the school community.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to support their development.

Requirements:

  • Experience or training in supporting students with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to working with young people facing challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and colleagues.
  • Resilience and adaptability to respond effectively to varying situations in a school environment.
