Job summary

Specialist Renal Dietitian (band 6) based at West Berkshire community hospital & Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading. Part-time ( hours)

This role is an excellent opportunity to join our team as a specialist renal dietitian.

As the successful candidate, you would be based at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, supporting patients with kidney disease. You would be working with patients on haemodialysis in a MDT setting to help optimise their nutrition. There will also be the opportunity to work alongside renal doctors and nurses in peritoneal dialysis and low clearance clinics.

You would be joining a team of over 20 committed and welcoming dietitians, who work in a range of specialist areas at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. Reading is the largest town in the UK with great shopping, evening night life and restaurants, and London is less than half an hour by train.

We are a forward-thinking department that has a strong focus on a patient-centred service. We encourage service development and have an established quality improvement programme driving the service forward.

This is a part-time role ( hours per week).

The role can accommodate flexible and some remote working. We would consider a band 5 applicant who would like to have an accelerated progression to band 6.

Main duties of the job

Assessing and supporting patients with chronic kidney disease

Specialist interest in renal dietetics with an almost exclusively outpatient caseload

Supporting students, junior staff and other dietitians with specialist knowledge

Using a Quality Improvement programme to lead service development

Job responsibilities

The must haves for this role:

HCPC registered dietitian

Experience working in the NHS, with some renal experience preferred but not essential

Passion for dietetics and a patient-centred focus

Diploma / Degree in Dietetics Current HCPC registration

Desirable

Experience as a practicing dietitian in the area of renal dietetics

Continuous Professional Development

Demonstration that clinical skills are up to date

Have completed or interested in talking: Student supervisory training Have completed or interested in talking: Behaviour change training

Previous Experience

Experience in training student dietitians
