The team at Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust comprises of approximately 500 pharmacy staff working across five sites and is one of the biggest pharmacy departments in the country.

Main duties of the job

This is a new post and the successful applicant will be supported by the experienced Pharmacy Healthcare Governance Manager and work within the established pharmacy governance team.

The focus of the role is to lead the quality governance agenda within pharmacy. This will require strong organisational skills in order to work autonomously to develop and lead the pharmacy quality improvement programme including fulfilling the role of audit lead for pharmacy, investigating and responding to complaints, producing reports to highlight learning and improvement, and escalate concerns to the Pharmacy Management Board.

The post holder will also deliver training and provide expertise and guidance to all levels of pharmacy staff on a range of governance topics and support the Pharmacy Healthcare Governance Manager in the implementation of Trust wide medicine safety initiatives.

Education and Qualifications

Essential

MPharm degree in pharmacy Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council Higher degree/post-graduate diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent Appropriate Short Management Courses Appraisal training, absence management Demonstrated ability to work at Doctorate level

Desirable

Independent prescribing Management or leadership qualification Post-graduate Masters qualification, or equivalent experience Qualification in Clinical Audit, Service/Quality Improvement and/or leadership Project/Programme Management qualification PRINCE 2, MSP or equivalent experience

Experience

Essential

Extensive post registration experience as a practising clinician at advanced level within a UK hospital pharmacy department Human resource (HR) experience of managing staff as per HR policies and procedures Experience of working with and influencing staff at different levels across professional and organisational boundaries. Research, audit, service improvement and publication experience. Experience of writing complex documents including procedures and reports
