BerkshireHealthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BHFT) have multiple opportunities availablefor Nursery Assistants to join their fast-growing team at either of the followinglocations: Jack In The Box nursery based in Slough, Kiddies Cabin nurserybased in Maidenhead and Little Dragons nursery based in Reading.

All thenurseries are managed by BHFT enabling the nurseries to have strongpartnerships within the trust which includes all nursery staff having 12 hourPaediatric First Aid training which is refreshed every three years. There isalso training available at all nurseries to ensure high level of care for thechildren, compliance with regulations and that staff regularly update their knowledgeof childcare and education. You would be working with a team of hard-workingindividuals who are passionate about providing a stimulating, friendly andcaring environment for the children. We arelooking for individuals who can work full time or part time on a temporarybasis for a minimum of 3 months to join the NHS Professionals Bank. There maybean opportunity for this to be extended. We are open to candidates from allexperiences, ranging from Apprentices to Graduate Nursery Nurses.

Main duties of the job

JOB SUMMARY

The post holder is to assist in the development andrunning of the nursery, to provide good day care for the children in a safe,clean and stimulating environment

RESPONSIBILITIES

Toprovide the best possible care and stimulation for the children of the nurserymeeting their physical, intellectual, emotional and social needs in anon-discriminatory manner.

To workin partnership with parents and encourage their involvement in the aims of thenursery and in all aspects of their childs care.

Toprovide and maintain records as necessary and appropriate, in line with theEYFS Statutory Framework.

Toattend training courses, to ensure that modern, innovated and forward lookingpractices are maintained and to allow for personal career development.

Toassist in the planning of appropriate programmes that meet the individual needsof the children and development matters.

Toassist in the daily domestic management of the nursery; ensuring that thenursery is kept safe, secure and clean at all times.

To workeffectively as part of a team on a daily basis.

Toparticipate fully in the daily routine of the individual rooms and to followthe guidance and instructions of the senior staff.

Tocompile and maintain regular progress developmental records on key children,making sure that records are accurate, signed and dated.

Todevelop good working relationships with parents and encourage parental interestand participation in the life of the nursery.

Tocomply with regulations stipulated by Ofsted and the employer.

Tomonitor and develop your own professional and personal learning needs.

To worktowards achieving an NVQ level 3 qualification in childcare.

Anyother duties from time to time to be defined by the nursery manager within theframework of the post.

Experience of any work which demonstrates the skills required for the post Experience of team work Previous relevant work in childcare

Qualifications

NVQ 2 in childcare or equivalent qualification in line with those listed on the qualification finder section of An understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage

Additional Requirements

Essential

Flexible approach to hours which includes a willingness to attend meetings, training and nursery events as appropriate. As stated in the EYFS, a good standard of written and spoken English. Also able to read and understand English such as to follow instructions or interpret a policy A knowledge of safeguarding children and child protection and appropriate protocol
