Didcot, United Kingdom Fleet Tutors Full time

Are you searching for a role that recognises the impact of passionate, engaging education?

Do you want to make a significant difference in the lives of young learners throughout the UK?

Then join Fleet Education Services as a professional primary Maths, English or Science Tutor.

About us

We are a leading nationwide provider of alternative and supplementary education to schools and local authorities, supporting children from all backgrounds through one-to-one and tailored small group tuition programmes. We provide quality assured tuition, delivered by the best educators who all share in our aim to ensure that every learner we support thrives.

The role

We have learners who need you to make a difference in their lives now who are situated throughout Didcot. These learners will require dedicated, in-person support to enable their academic success - if you’re an engaging teacher or tutor, experienced in supporting KS1/KS2 English, Maths or Science and who would relish the opportunity to work with students in their own homes or schools delivering tuition on a 1:1 or small group basis, then we’d love to work with you.

You’ll provide in-person, daytime tuition to learners who are struggling to meet age-related academic expectations. These opportunities to tutor are tailored with your availability in mind and can vary between 5-25+ hours per week depending on learner requirements. Your skill and expertise will play a leading role in improving the self-confidence and subject knowledge of your learner, ultimately re-engaging them with education and providing a positive learning outcome.

Learners referred to us may demonstrate complex learning requirements - distinct experience of working with children who present the following will be advantageous:

  • Special educational needs (SEN) such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and Dyslexia or Dyspraxia
  • Social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs
  • Childhood trauma

Key responsibilities

  • Create lesson plans and deliver tuition that is designed to engage, inspire and teach.
  • Monitor your learner’s progress and provide constructive feedback to foster continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with your learner’s guardians/teachers to ensure their academic success.
  • Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and learner performance through our virtual learning platform.

What we offer

  • Competitive weekly renumeration through PAYE.
  • Control over your workload; flexible roles that fit around your existing commitments and availability with full time equivalent hours available.
  • Ongoing training opportunities that count towards your CPD and provide insight into working with SEN learners.
  • A dedicated Tuition Consultant who will work closely with you to ensure you have as much work as you are able to fulfil, matching you to opportunities that meet your preferences.

Requirements

  • Must hold a Bachelor’s level degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 6 months UK teaching/tutoring experience.
  • Must live and be eligible to work in the UK.
  • Must be willing to undertake a full Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and referencing process, as well as subscribing to the DBS Update Service.
  • A commitment to safeguarding.
  • Experience supporting students with SEN, SEMH and other complex needs.

Diversity and Inclusion: We work together.

Fleet Education Services’ mission is to help students of all abilities and backgrounds achieve their potential, and for us to succeed in this, our people are placed at the heart of everything we do.  We believe that a diverse and inclusive workforce has a positive impact on all our learners and together, we can help them reach their goals.  To that end, we welcome all applications regardless of religion, age, ethnicity, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability status or any other aspect which makes you unique.

Applying

Fleet Education Services is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. In line with government statutory guidance 'Keeping Children Safe In Education' (KCSIE), all candidates must pass our strict processes to ensure their suitability to work with children and young people before being considered for work with us. As part of our due diligence, additional online searches will be conducted on shortlisted candidates.
