Job purpose:

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, as the Design Development Engineer you will be responsible for creating engineering solutions aligned with Eden's manufacturing and outsourced capabilities, that incorporate voice of the customer requirements, along with demonstrating an understanding of retail and consumer insights through brand representation. You will be required to liaise closely with customers and account managers to establish a thorough understanding of the design brief, manufacturing and sourcing to ensure any required deliverables are met to the agreed quality levels and time scales. Working to tight deadlines, you must demonstrate the necessary skills in converting a design brief into an engaging and compelling design solution.

Duties and responsibilities:

Working alongside and supporting the sales team, and other areas of the business to ensure that customers design development needs and requirements are met and understood. Producing design solutions which go above and beyond our customer's expectations, which are engaging, innovative and functional solutions. Own and manage the entire project/prototype process of the design to gain customer approval, including production in which a prototype can be created. Working with internal team of stakeholders and the customer to ensure the the prototype is created within project timelines, specifications and expectations. Manage workload through a design development tracker to ensure deadlines are always met and communicated with customers and the sales team. Document and share design development areas of best practise. National and international travel may be required from time to time and at short notice

Required Competencies and Experience:

Design computed literacy wit proved skills in INVENTOR or similar works package (ideally 3-5 years). Experience in mixed material solutions including bot not limited to metal, timber, plastic, glass and graphics. Proven track record of delivering high quality & accurate drawings in CAD and Inventor, to communicate design intent. Ability to plan, organise, communicate and manage customer relationships. Strong presentation and communication skills that can be clearly evidence and articulated. Very well organised with strong time management skills to manage workload and achieve deadlines. Positive attitude, driven, energetic, team player and professionally ambitious. Self-starter, independent and self-sufficient. Solution orientated. Confident at articulation engineering design ideas.

Location:
We currently have two sites, one in Wellingborough (Northamptonshire) and manufacturing facility in Aberdare, South Wales. The candidate should reside within a commutable distance from either sites.
