Overview of job
 

The Commercial Trading team develop and maintain the products and services that drive the commercial revenues at Global for both the Radio and Outdoor parts of the business.

The Tech Lead role offers an exciting chance to shape the future of our products and services, empowering customers and third parties to seamlessly plan and purchase advertising campaigns through user-friendly interfaces and api’s.

We are facing many exciting and interesting scaling questions, technical challenges and looking at new ways to grow the business.

We are a friendly and close-knit team and work in a highly collaborative, agile environment.

Being responsible for the technical leadership of a suite of publicly and internal facing business-critical products and services

Work closely with the product team and stakeholders to set the priorities for the fastest growing part of the business 

Measures of success – 

In the first few months, you would have:

Driven the culture of learning, knowledge sharing and mentoring across the teams. 

Gained a deep understanding of the business context and how it affects all the deliverables of the teams. 

Set the standard for good development practice and ensure it is followed across all teams. 

Worked with the squads to develop an innovative architecture that meets future business requirements. 

Ensured a reliable production environment, kept track of problems, and worked with the teams to ensure a reduction in incidents over time. 

Partnered with product team members and stakeholders to contribute to the roadmap across all the teams. 

Responsibilities of the role

Work across multiple feature teams (internal and external) to build an architecture that reduces complexity and meets current and future business requirements. 

Removing impediments that are obstructing success.

Encouraging a culture of collaboration, learning and mentoring and ensuring a friendly work environment. 

Setting standards for production reliability, managing problems, and ensuring incidents are resolved as soon as possible. Working with the teams to reduce issues and improve reliability over time. 

Working with stakeholders and product to set the roadmap across the teams including technical considerations and improvements. 

Working with other teams across the business to ensure end to end thinking. 

Monitoring and Managing cloud spend for the suite of products and services.

What you will need

The ideal candidate will be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions, capable of the following:

A passion for building an effective team and fostering an environment that allows team members to learn, grow and thrive. 

Demonstrably great communication skills, both written and verbal and the ability to influence and drive discussion and collaboration. 

Demonstrable experience at solving complex problems across a whole system, considering performance, security, supportability, maintainability, and the complexities of building distributed systems. 

An operational attitude, demonstrable experience in relevant observability related tooling and maintaining a production environment including troubleshooting complex issues across a system.

High standards to get the solution right with a particular emphasis on driving forward the test automation strategy.

Experience with Java 17+, Spring Boot, and ideally exposure to architectural patterns like event sourcing and CQRS.
