The Role:

The primary role of a VMS Driver Operative is to supportthe VMS operations team in deploying setting up and collecting VMS(Variable Message Sign) units at customer locations. The roleinvolves doing offhire inspections minor repairs and preparingunits for hire at the depot. It also includes performing batteryexchanges cleaning and inspections on longterm hired units in thefield. Additionally the role requires assisting the localdepot.

ThePerson:

We are looking for aselfstarter and selfmotivated individual who likes independentworking and ideally has a technical/mechanical background. We wantsomeone who takes pride in their work and is keen to progresswithin the business.

TheResponsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to all health and safetyprocedures risk assessments and environmental regulations duringwork at depots and customer sites.
  • Conductoneself courteously and professionally when attending client sitesand follow all local site rules.
  • Maintainprofessional working relationships with colleagues across alldepartments.
  • Deliver and collect VMSCCTV
  • Carry out full inspections servicing andrepairs on the hire fleet.
  • Complete allrelevant delivery collection and inspectionpaperwork.
  • Identify fair wear and tear andcustomer damage on equipment.
  • Ensurecleanliness and legal compliance of assigned vehicles and worktools.
  • Quarantine all equipment that isnt fitfor purpose until repairs are carriedout.
  • Liaise with customers before and aftervisits.
  • Work safely wear appropriate PPE andmaintain a neat work area.
  • Occasional workingaway from home and night shift work may berequired.

TheEssentials:

  • Ability towork alone and as part of a team.
  • Full drivinglicense with no more than 6 points.

The Desirables:

  • Basic electrical faultfindingskills
  • Mechanical or Technical handson workexperience and skills.
  • Experience workingwithin a highway environment.
  • Basic knowledgeof traffic light equipment.
  • CSCS cardholder.
  • Competent in driving company vans andpickups up to 3.5 tons and towing trailers with loaded plantequipment.

TheDesirable Qualifications:

  • GCSEs in English andMathematics.
  • City and Guilds or equivalentqualification in highway installations.
  • Sector8 Accreditation Health and Safety qualifications (e.g. NRSWA G39ECS).
