Surveyor

Wells, United Kingdom Aster Group Full time

Are you an experienced Surveyor, wishing to enjoy the beautiful Somerset region.  Why not considering joining our team.

What you’ll be doing

As a surveyor, you’ll be surveying. Of course you will - but more specifically carrying out responsive property inspections in customer’s homes in Somerset. You’ll typically be out and about working independently with our automated scheduling system and managing a varied, large and challenging workload.

You won’t just be doing that, there’s also: Response repair surveys, Mutual exchanges, Minor works surveys, investigating damp, condensation and mould to name a few.

At times you may also be responsible for overseeing minor works, refurbishment work and general surveying. There’ll be plenty of opportunities for you to share your knowledge and advise on construction defects and the like, all helping us to ensure we deliver a great customer service.

You’ll work with your maintenance colleagues to schedule in the repairs you’ve identified, and you’ll keep customer experience at the heart of everything you do. Our customers will be a high focus for you, so you’ll ensure that the highest possible quality is provided through our services, meeting the requirements of best value and best practice, demonstrating excellent communication skills at all levels.

You’ll be working with Sharron, our Contracts Manager, mainly in Somerset but there may be times where you’ll also see what other areas of the group have to offer as the team work closely together; cross-working is key

You will need access to a vehicle and valid full UK driving licence.

About you

You will have a relevant technical (HNC or higher) qualification in Building, Surveying, Planning or a similar technical field or significant experience working in the construction industry.  Ideally you will have previous experience of working in social housing.

You’ll mostly work alone out in our communities but there’s a team right behind you waiting for you when you get back to the laptop; being able to work independently and part of a team is key in this role. You’ll also be happy communicating with colleagues and customers frequently, face to face, on the phone or in writing.

A strength will be your time management and you’ll be experienced in working to deadlines, and you’ll be really happy to manage your own time and workload.

You’ll be knowledgeable in current methods, standards and initiatives relating to repair and refurbishment of residential dwellings and you’ll be confident sharing your knowledge with others and keeping up to date with what’s new in your area.

What’s in it for me

We invest in our colleagues because we know if they have a better day at work, the service our customers receive will be better. The Aster Offer is our offer to our colleagues to ensure they have a great day at work and includes things like:

  • Flexible working – whilst some roles need to be carried out in a specific place at a specific time, where possible we encourage our colleagues to work to their own schedule at a location that suits them, their team and our business’ needs
  • A focus on colleague wellbeing – workshops, an employee assistance programme offering counselling and support, mental health training and a health cash plan
  • We invest in colleagues’ careers and development through our leader and colleague development frameworks
  • Defined Contribution Pension and attached life assurance
  • Volunteering hours available to all colleagues to enable them to give back
  • Savings at cinemas, gyms, holidays, days out, various shops and eateries and lots more
  • Enhanced leave
  • We celebrate colleagues who go above and beyond with a range of personalised recognition initiatives, and monthly and annual awards.
