Business Unit

The AmcoGiffen in-house fabrication team is one that has gone from strength to strength in recent times establishing itself over the last 3 years with ongoing plans to build on recent success and continue growth and development of the business unit. This is a key area of the business, offering fabrication expertise both to the internal business units nationally as well as continuing development of key external clients and exploring new client/contractor opportunities around the country.

With an amass of capability to fabricate heavy steel structures, the fabrication team have ambitious plans to make itself known in the market as a specialist steel fabrication business unit offering.

The Company

You will be joining a reputable and firmly established, engineering contractor operating nationally in rail, civils and engineering markets. AmcoGiffen are renowned in the market as a specialist civil, building, mechanical and electrical renewals and maintenance business with ongoing and successful projects and frameworks across the country, you will become part of our expert outfit.

The Role

As Site Agent / Project Manager for the Fabrication team, you will play a vital role in leading the successful contract delivery on behalf of the company by ensuring that the fabrication team are fully appraised of the contract parameters and have the capability and resources necessary to achieve contract objectives. You will be responsible for developing positive relationships with all parties associated with the contract and for ensuring that the contract is delivered on time, within budget and to the agreed quality whilst ensuring that client expectations regarding quality, programme, and budget are wherever possible exceeded.

Day to day, your role will involve:

•  Involvement in projects at all stages from pre-qualifying, tendering through to completion.

•  Oversee all aspects of the project ensuring the company is fully appraised of the contract parameters

•  Set deadlines, assign responsibilities, monitor and summarise progress of project as required.

•  Ensuring that the contract is executed in accordance with the requirements of:

o  All applicable legislation

o  The Terms and Conditions of the contract

o  The Contract Health and Safety Plan

o  The Contract Quality/Environmental Plan

o  The Policies and Procedures contained within the Company Business Management System

•  Delivery of the contract within programme and budget.

•  Control and management of sub contract resources to the highest levels of safety, quality and efficiency.

•  The promotion of a continuous improvement culture and the use of best practice.

•  The continuous monitoring of contract progress to ensure contract objectives are being met.

•  Ensuring that, in conjunction with the Project Delivery Team, changes to the contract are identified, agreed and effectively managed.

•  Ensuring that all relevant issues, which cannot be resolved at contract level, are passed for the attention of the Contracts Director.

•  To proactively promote the Company and its capabilities to clients.

•  Assist and Support in the recruitment, training and development of skilled workshop technicians.

•  You will be working autonomously on a day to day basis whilst working closely with the Design, Engineering and shop floor teams.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you will have previous experience in a similar position as a Site Agent and/or Project Manager on the installation of steelwork and steel structures.

•  HNC / HND qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar (minimum)
