Job summary

We are looking for a casual/bank Health Care Assistant to assist our busy team. Hours will be flexible and up to full-time according to business need. Experience is essential; we need someone who is able to hit the ground running.

Working under the supervision of the nursingteam and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines andprotocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the practice clinical team inthe provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care. The successful applicant will provide high quality nursing and clerical support to the practice team, ensuring highstandards of care for our patients.

Interviews for this role will be held on week commencing 22nd July.

Main duties of the job

Provide individualised care as appropriate foreach patient, ensuring patient privacy and dignity at all times.

Take and record appropriate observations using EMIS, understanding when and why these are required. Inform the Nurse or GP of anyconcerns or above target recording as appropriate, using specific policyguidance.

Safeguard vulnerable adults and children byreporting any concerns to Safeguarding Leads within the Practice.

Be competent and capable of providing physicalassessment as required at the request of PN/GP/ANP.

To competently complete therequirements of the QOF templates in long term sickness management, including foot checks, venepuncture, BP, height, weight etc.

Vaccinate children and adults within the remitof PSDs as required by immunisation policy.

Safely administer B12 IM injections, disposing ofequipment appropriately and as per guidance.

Assist as required in the emergency managementof patients.

Assist within minor surgery clinics as required.

Provide relevant patient information leaflets tothe patient.

Ensure that all PNs/GPs/ANPs are informedof any changes to the patients condition or observations as per guidance or asrequested.

Job responsibilities

To assist the GPs/AHP/ANPs and Practice Nurseteam in the service delivery and management of patients.

To abide by practice policies and procedures.

Always maintain patients privacy and dignityand provide an appropriate level of care in a compassionate and sensitivemanner.

Be part of a forward-thinking practice contributingand assisting in areas of audit and evidence-based practice development.

Develop and maintain nursing competencies inphysical assessment skills to maintain high quality and safe care.

The post holder will be expected to contributeto general house-keeping duties within the practice, such as general tidiness,maintain infection control standards, re-stock levels are met and maintainedand any clinical equipment that is used is clean, working and stored correctly.

Assist with admin and clerical duties asrequired.

Qualifications

Essential

Experience of working as an HCA in Primary Care Experience of using EMIS NVQ Level 2 in Healthcare Up-to-date statutory and mandatory training Venepuncture Competence in physical skills ECG, BP etc. GCSE Grade 4 ( C) or above English and Maths Ability to communicate with members of the public and health care providers. Use of IT software such as Word, Excel, Outlook Presents self as courteous, respectful and helpful Ability to work effectively under direct supervision, and as part of the whole practice team
