An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Colorectal Clinical Nurse Specialist (Complex Abdominal Wall Reconstruction).
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and autonomous individual who is passionate about Colorectal Surgery and complex abdominal wall reconstruction care. The candidate should be able to prioritise and organise their workload, work under pressure and have a commitment to patient centred care.
The successful candidate must have previous experience of the Colorectal Surgical specialty.

This role will apply specialist skills to assess and treat patients in an inpatient and outpatient setting. They will act as an autonomous practitioner in forming clinical decisions and management plans in the diagnosis, assessment, pre-op optimisation and treatment for patients presenting to the Colorectal Surgery service, therefore providing an excellent and safe patient experience.
The post holder will provide:
A pre-optimisation service for patients needing hernia surgery which may include:-supporting patients with smoking cessation, diabetic control and weight management prior to surgery
-undertake a joint follow up clinic and provide patients with holistic and psychological support in the form of counselling
-complete a complex abdominal wall reconstruction (CAWR) performa
Assist with theatre scheduling and botox injection bookings Undertake research, audits, data collection, maintain the CAWR database and support publications and presentations of achievements Support inpatient and outpatient post-operative reviews and follow up Partake in the CAWR MDTThe post holder will develop and implement Nurse/AHP led clinics applicable to the post and specialist to include both new and follow up patients, as well as review patients in the acute inpatient setting.
This post holder will act as an expert resource for both Nursing and Medical staff by providing advice, support and education through clinical practice evidence-based development.
There will be close liaison and appropriate referral between all relevant departments, the lead clinician and other services, including those provided by Community teams.
Facilitate the planning and delivery of care programmes to address patient needs and develop/improve the service.
The post holder will be a key member of, actively participate in, and work within the guidelines of the Multi-Disciplinary Team, as a key worker for patients under Colorectal Complex abdominal wall reconstruction team.
