The Role:
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), you will play a pivotal role in supporting teaching and learning across the school, with a focus on students with SEN. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Leading and delivering small group interventions and targeted support sessions to students with SEN, both in and out of the classroom.
  2. Supporting classroom teachers in planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality teaching and learning activities that cater to the diverse needs of students.
  3. Providing guidance and support to Teaching Assistants and other support staff to ensure the effective implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  4. Assisting with the assessment and monitoring of student progress, and providing feedback to teachers and SENCO.
  5. Contributing to the development and implementation of whole-school strategies to promote inclusion, equality, and diversity.
  6. Acting as a positive role model for students and promoting a culture of respect, resilience, and high expectations.

Requirements:
To excel in this role, you will need:

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or HLTA in a secondary school or similar setting, preferably with students with SEN.
  • A relevant qualification in education or equivalent experience, such as a Level 4 Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • A commitment to promoting inclusion, equality, and diversity within the school community.
