Contract: Full-time/Part-time (Depending on the candidate)

GSL Education Bournemouth Branch are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker in Poole. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a difference in children's lives, working closely with them to foster both academic and personal growth in a supportive school setting.

About the role:
As a Support Worker, you will have an important role in encouraging positive behaviour and creating a supportive space for students to learn. You will help with their education as well as their overall growth, including their communication, social skills, and independence.

Responsibilities of the Support Worker:

  • Implement Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) developed by teachers and SENCO, ensuring consistent management of challenging behaviours.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to help students understand and manage their emotions and behaviours.
  • Promote positive behaviour and social skills to foster an inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals to tailor and review behaviour intervention strategies.
  • Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and provide feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Support teachers in maintaining a productive classroom through proactive strategies and assistance during lessons.

Requirements of the Support Worker:

  • Proven experience working with students facing behavioural challenges in an educational or related setting is an advantage. 
  • Strong knowledge of behaviour management techniques and intervention strategies.
  • Empathy, patience, and resilience to effectively support students in regulating their behaviour and emotions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with students, staff, and parents/guardians.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, contributing to a positive and supportive school environment.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
