Competitive Salary plus benefits

Role

In our Data and Analytics team, we're focused on using data to drive our organization forward.

Our organization seeks a Business Intelligence Analyst dedicated to solving business problems through data-driven insights. In this role, your primary mission will be to analyse complex data sets to answer key business questions and guide strategic decisions. While data modelling remains a component of your duties, the emphasis will shift towards applying these models and other analytical tools to directly address and resolve business challenges.

As a Business Intelligence Analyst, you will dive into data analysis, employing your analytical skills to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that are critical for decision-making. Using SQL for data manipulation and BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau, you will craft reports and dashboards that clearly present these insights to stakeholders across the organization.

Your role involves working closely with different business units to understand their challenges and data needs. By translating business problems into analytical queries, you will leverage data to propose actionable solutions, making data-driven recommendations that drive the organization forward. Your ability to communicate these insights effectively, turning complex data into understandable and actionable information, will be crucial.

In this capacity, your work will not just support but actively drive strategic initiatives, optimizing operations and identifying growth opportunities through a keen understanding of data. You will ensure that our decision-making processes are informed by timely, accurate, and relevant data insights.

This Business Intelligence Analyst position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about applying data analytics to solve real-world business problems. If you have a knack for identifying trends and drawing meaningful conclusions from data, and you're skilled at communicating these insights to inform strategic decisions, this role offers a dynamic opportunity to impact our organization's success.

What will you be doing?

• Data Collection and Analysis:

1. Gather business requirements from stakeholders to understand their data needs.

2. Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources into data warehouses.

3. Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.

• Reporting and Visualization:

1. Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations to present data insights clearly and effectively.

2. Use tools like Power BI or Excel or similar BI tooling to create interactive and user-friendly reports.

• Data Management:

1. Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security.

2. Clean, organize, and structure data for analysis.

3. Implement data quality standards and procedures.

• Collaboration and Communication:

1. Work closely with business stakeholders, including management, to understand their needs and provide data-driven solutions.

2. Communicate findings and insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

• Performance Measurement:

1. Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure business performance.

2. Monitor and analyse performance trends, providing actionable insights for improvement.

• Technical Expertise:

1. Utilize SQL for querying and manipulating data.

2. Use programming languages such as Python or R for advanced data analysis.

3. Implement data modelling techniques to structure data effectively.

• Problem Solving:

1. Identify business problems and propose data-driven solutions.

2. Conduct root cause analysis to address data issues and business challenges.

What are we looking for?

• Ability to think critically and align BI tasks with business objectives under guidance.

• Understanding of data management, analytics, and data governance principles.

• Proficiency with BI tools like SQL, Excel, Tableau, or Power BI for data analysis and visualization.

• Skills in data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.

• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and data modelling techniques.

• Exposure to project management methodologies to support BI projects.

• Proficiency in resource utilization and forecasting within the BI team.

• Interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating with team members and stakeholders.

• Ability to gather and understand stakeholder requirements.

• Willingness to learn and provide support to the BI team.

• Problem-solving skills to identify issues and propose solutions with guidance.

• Eagerness to contribute within a team environment and assist in initiatives.

• Developing collaboration and relationship-building skills.

• Ability to manage stakeholder interactions and priorities with guidance.

• Attention to detail and analytical skills for problem-solving.

• Initiative and motivation to learn and grow within the role with supervision.

• University degree or equivalent experience in business or a STEM subject and experience in a relevant regulated industry would be beneficial.
