Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity available for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for helping others, to join our acute service physiotherapy teams as a Physiotherapy Assistant.

The successful candidate will work alongside qualified physiotherapists, as part of a multidisciplinary team, assisting with the provision of high quality physiotherapy assessment and treatment to patients presenting with a range of acute medical, surgical and orthopaedic conditions. The role involves helping patients meet their functional goals while in hospital and can include assisting patients with personal care. Experience of working in a healthcare or care setting, or of exercise provision/physiotherapy assistant work would be an advantage but full training and ongoing support will be provided.

The post does additionally involve some administrative duties including the use of computerised systems and data inputting.

South Warwickshire Foundation Trust provides therapy cover at weekends and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to weekend working.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of the multidisciplinary team to deliver rehabilitation programmes to patients in relevant area as prescribed by the physiotherapy team.

To assist the physiotherapists in delivering rehabilitation programmes to patients in relevant area.

To provide administrative support to the Physiotherapy Team.

Job responsibilities

To be responsible for delivering rehabilitation programmes to clients as prescribed by the practitioner and without direct supervision.

To communicate with other members of the multidisciplinary team, giving feedback on patients progress. This may include more formal feedback at relevant meetings.

To communicate with clients, their families and other agencies involved in their care.

Maintain accurate documentation both written and electronic in accordance with Trust Policy.

Provide health education information to clients/carers, encouraging self-awareness and self-help.

To be involved in the process of ordering aids and equipment and to monitor their safe use.

Be responsible for organising own daily work load.

To attend professional meetings, clinical supervision and other relevant meetings.

To be involved with induction of new staff.

To be able to input data accurately.

Qualifications
