The Role

As a Lead Subsea Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, testing, and implementation of subsea hardware systems for offshore oil and gas projects. This role requires strong technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to lead a team of engineers in delivering high-quality subsea hardware solutions.

Typical Responsibilities

Project Leadership:

Lead and manage a team of subsea hardware engineers throughout the entire project life cycle. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and control system engineers, to ensure seamless integration of subsea hardware into overall project designs. Technical Design and Development: Develop and review detailed engineering designs for subsea hardware components, such as wellheads, Christmas trees, connectors, and control systems. Ensure compliance with industry standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements. Perform engineering calculations and simulations to validate the performance and reliability of subsea hardware.

Testing and Qualification:

Plan and execute testing programs to validate the functionality and reliability of subsea hardware components and systems. Work closely with testing and quality assurance teams to identify and address any issues during the testing phase.

Risk Management:

Identify potential risks associated with subsea hardware design and develop mitigation strategies. Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to ensure the safety and reliability of subsea hardware systems

Documentation and Reporting:

Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and reports. Communicate project progress, challenges, and solutions to stakeholders through regular status updates and technical presentations.

Collaboration and Communication:

Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, project managers, and clients to ensure alignment on project goals and requirements. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to address technical inquiries and provide updates on subsea hardware engineering activities.

Expected:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Considerable previous relevant experience in Subsea Hardware Engineering with an emphasis on subsea trees and wellheads including the delivery of this equipment Experience acting as client representative at wellhead, tress and manifold fabrication, FAT, EFAT and SIT Excellent communication skills (written and spoken) with the ability to interface directly with clients and internal departments Excellent MS Office Suite knowledge Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in the UK upstream oil and gas industry. Chartered Engineer status desirable Proven ability to communicate and present at all levels Experience in ownership and delivery of workscopes; developing manhour budget estimates; and leading senior / project engineers
