London, United Kingdom Gorilla Full time

Join us at Gorilla, a pioneering SaaS company reshaping the energy sector landscape. Focusing on innovation, we provide cutting-edge data applications for energy retailers, revolutionizing pricing, forecasting, and portfolio analysis. Our dynamic product team is split into two synergistic units: the Platform Team, crafting a robust, versatile data processing infrastructure, and the Applications Team, where creativity meets technology to develop specialized algorithms and energy data applications. We are more than just a workplace; we are a hub of innovation where ideas fuel the future.

Your role

As a Forecasting Analyst (Energy Expert) in our Applications Team, you'll be at the heart of our mission to redefine energy retail solutions. By forecasting things better, we can enable end users to maximize the potential of intermittent renewable energy. Your role is pivotal in shaping the future of energy retailer forecasting models, ensuring our products meet and exceed the energy sector's evolving needs.

Your responsibilities

  • Model Definition: Be at the forefront of designing forecasting solutions for the energy industry, in collaboration with our skilled data engineers. Define and evaluate the performance of energy forecasting pipelines for gas, electricity, and renewables.
  • Product Testing & Quality Assurance: to ensure that domain-specific features are reliable and accurate and that the software reflects industry best practices.
  • Data insights: You are skilled in data analysis and data visualization. You can convert model outputs and statistical test results into valuable insights for our customers
  • Collaborative Innovation: Work closely with our skilled algorithm engineers, translating conceptual ideas and theoretical knowledge of statistics and machine learning into well-structured solution definitions.
  • Quality Assurance: Meticulously test and refine models to ensure they adhere to the highest standards of reliability and accuracy.
  • Documentation: Diligently document methodologies, model specifications, and testing results, providing clear guidance for both internal teams and clients.
  • Knowledge Exchange: Engage in thought-provoking discussions with other subject matter experts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.

A Day in the Life of a Forecasting Analyst at Gorilla

Imagine starting your day diving into the latest energy market trends, extracting key insights to enhance our forecasting models. Collaborate with algorithm engineers in a vibrant, interactive session, brainstorming, and refining ideas. Post-lunch, you're deep in testing some of the new features the engineers have delivered. As the day winds down, you document your findings, contributing to our knowledge base, and you'll end the day with a stimulating conversation with a fellow expert, exchanging ideas that could spark our next significant innovation.
