London, United Kingdom Action Against Hunger UK Full time

We want a world where no one dies from hunger. Life-threatening hunger is predictable, preventable and treatable. Join Action Against Hunger and together we will stop it in its tracks.

Action Against Hunger is an optimistic, inspiring place to work. We want passionate and dedicated people to help build a better world. We’re a creative team made up of people with a wide range of talents, styles and expertise. But we are united in our relentless dedication to end world hunger.  No challenge is too big. With you we can do it.  Join us.

We are looking for an experienced Head of Philanthropy to join us on a 12-month maternity cover contract to oversee our high performing and high potential Trust and Foundation and Major Donor team. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to come into a dynamic and successful Fundraising and Communications Department: we have seen strong and sustained growth in all income streams in recent years. As an active member of our Senior Leadership Team and expert in high value fundraising, and you would lead and manage a motivated, skilled and passionate team.

We are fortunate to have support from a number of key strategic partners – including People’s Postcode Lottery – and to be an active member of the Disasters’ Emergency Committee (the DEC). Our portfolio is balanced nicely with respect to restricted and unrestricted income, and emerging markets are an area of growth for us, with 3 contracts signed this year alone valued at £1m+ with funders based outside of the UK. A number of committed major donors support our work as members of The George Society and as the size of our database grows (our number of regular donors and email subscribers have tripled in size this year), we are looking forward to growing our prospect pipelines and giving more people an opportunity to make a major gift in support of our work.

We find Action Against Hunger to be a very compelling proposition for high value funders. We are world-leaders in what we do, with programmes in over 50 countries reaching tens of millions of people, and an unparalleled track record fighting acute hunger and famine. We are looking for a Head of Philanthropy to sustain and build on current successes and are offering you an opportunity to get great experience and make a life-changing difference to families and communities in this role.

We would love to hear from you if you’re interested in joining us. For more detailed information on the role – and to see whether you have the necessary experience - please download the attached pdf Job description.
