We are looking for an exceptional qualified financial professional to lead financial support to the Children’s Services Directorate. Your experience and expertise needs to be in local government finance and primarily in DSG & Schools and Children’s Social Care.

In addition to being a fully qualified accountant, with strong technical skills ideally developed from a local government background in a demand led service area, you will have sound business partnering skills and the ability to lead a team in supporting a complex service area. You will be expected to have the confidence to operate at the highest level in a local authority in terms of key stakeholders such as Senior Officers, Members, Schools Forum, cross London working groups and external stakeholders such as Government Departments.

The broad portfolio includes Children’s Services (Social Care), Schools, DSG and Adopt London West.

You will be responsible for leading all aspects of financial support, including revenue and capital, final accounts, budget monitoring, statutory returns and project support. There is also a payments and returns function for the 70 schools across the borough.

You will be a confident and capable people manager who exemplifies relationship management and is committed to team development shaped by quality service delivery and customer outcomes. Meeting tight deadlines is of critical importance.
