Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanentBand 3 Physiotherapy Support Worker, within the Musculoskeletal Team/Hydrotherapyservice, working hours per week, based at Sunderland Royal Hospital,however, there may be a service need to work at the South Tyneside Hospital site.

Full or Part time hours will be considered.

This role will focus on providing a high standardof Physiotherapy assessment and treatment of patients alongside qualifiedPhysiotherapists. The post-holder will be responsible for their own patient caseload to manage appropriately,under the supervision of qualified staff with a focus on patient exerciseclasses primarily in Hydrotherapy and treatment within a Musculoskeletalsetting.

Main duties of the job

The successfulcandidate will work as part of the physiotherapy team, have a caseload ofpatients and provide safe and high quality patient care.

The main dutiesof the job include:

To beresponsible for the assessment and treatment of your own caseload, and tosupport the physiotherapists as required. To provide any mobilityaids/appliances to patients.

To undertakeHydrotherapy classes and individual patient care

To undertakeadmin tasks and other non-clinical duties.

To supervisemore junior therapy support staff.

To comply withTrust policies.

Job responsibilities

Working inSouth Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, the main purpose of thePhysiotherapy Support Worker role is to work part of the Physiotherapy team to providehigh standard physiotherapy.

The main responsibilities include:

Work aspart of a team to deliver care that focuses on the direct care needs of theindividual, delivered in line with the defined plans of care.

Toprovide support and assistance to qualified physiotherapy staff clinically andadministratively, in order to ensure highest standards of quality andefficiency of care.

Thepost holder will often be working alone without direct supervision of the Physiotherapist;however advice from a Physiotherapist is available.

Recogniseand consistently work within the boundaries of your role: unless supervised bya HCPC registrant Physiotherapist, only undertake activity that has beencompetency assessed.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

Evidence of interaction with the public or patients in a care setting. Ability to work as part of a team. Evidence of working within a therapy environment.

Desirable

Evidence of working as a physiotherapy assistant or technical instructor in a local authority, hospital or NHS organisation Previous B3 therapy support worker

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

GCSE in English and Numeracy skills to level 1 or equivalent NVQ 3 in health related subject or relevant past experience

Essential
