We have an exciting opportunity for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team at a welcoming school in Andover

About the Role:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with SEN, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in a supportive and inclusive educational setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualised education plans for students with SEN to tailor educational activities and resources to meet the specific needs of each student.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN to help students understand and complete their work, providing additional explanations and assistance as needed.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to teachers and adjusting support strategies as necessary.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure a cohesive approach to student development.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment to foster a welcoming and supportive atmosphere where all students feel valued and included.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods to engage and motivate students to cater to the diverse learning styles and needs of students.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and report to teachers, parents, and other relevant parties.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in a similar role is essential, demonstrating the understanding of the unique challenges and needs of students with SEN.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues, building positive and supportive relationships.
  • Demonstrate the ability to establish trust and rapport with all members of the school community.
  • Show a deep commitment to helping students with SEN by exhibiting patience and empathy in your interactions.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN education (desirable but not essential).

To work with GSL Education as a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will need:

  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
  • Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
