We are open tolooking at engineers who have just finished apprenticeship andlooking to gain experience and knowledge with an establishedcompany.

KeyPurpose of role:

Servicingfault finding replacing and repairing fire alarm systems includingemergency lighting in accordance with the current standards.Working with access control fire alarm systems emergency lightingintercom systems and some Nurse Call systems. Ability to think onyour feet and is passionate in finding a resolution to a problemwith the confidence of being able to tackle any situationonsite.

Key JobResponsibilities:

  • Investigate& fault finding on Fire Detection and Alarm and EmergencyLighting systems primarily. In depth knowledge of Nurse Call andStaff attack systems including Intercall CTec (Quantec) SAS. Soundworking knowledge of all Access Control and intercom systemsincluding Paxton RGL Fermax Videx. Knowledge of CCTV and Intruderis an advantage.
  • Carry outpreventative and corrective maintenance of all firesystems.
  • Be part of an OnCall Rotafor OOH callouts and telephonesupport.
  • Repairing of bothconventional and analogue addressable fire alarm systems to a highstandard of workmanship
  • The postholder will understand the regulatory (EG: BS58391 BS5266 1) fairtrading and competition rules relating to their work andsufficiently to be able to comply with them relying on their ownknowledge or on their ability to recognise that they will needspecialist support.
  • Understandingthe clients needs and fulfilling all jobs required and cooperationwith all site conditionsfully.

  • Excellentfirsttime resolution & risk managementskills
  • Excellent communicationskills
  • A proven background andexperience of working within the fireIndustry.
  • Experience of undertakingservice and repair work
  • Experienceof conventional and addressable fire systems across a range ofmanufacturers equipment
  • Goodinstallation practices and in accordance with BS7671 whererequired.
  • Good Experience of NurseCall Systems of all types.
  • Knowledgeof integration of detection systems into other disciplines would bea real advantage. (Interfaces and shutdownsetc)
  • Full understanding to BS5839 isessential.
  • Detailed understanding ofEmergency Lighting systems toBS52661
  • The ability to beresourceful with a dynamic approach to problem solving isessential.
  • Full drivinglicence
  • FIA Modules required or asper industry standards in accordance with the RRO2005 forcompetency.

DesirableRequirements for thejob:

  • AdvancedKentec CTec Apollo Hochiki Fire Alarm systems knowledge isdesirable.
  • Gent by Honeywell VESDA& Other Aspirating manufacturers isdesirable.
  • Experience of Accesscontrol systems of alltypes
  • Electrical or Electronicsystems background
  • ICELaccreditation of emergencylighting
  • Good overall fire productknowledge
