Job summary

Logistics UK is looking to appoint an Economic Data Analyst who is excited about using their analytical expertise and gaining hands-on experience of the representational and information work of a business group. We are looking for someone to provide robust economic analysis and insights that underpin Logistics UK’s policy positions, enabling the organisation to influence key stakeholders and shape the future of the logistics sector. This role will support the policy team in strategic initiatives and maintain the essential flow of intelligence that informs our advocacy and member services.

This role will be based within our Policy Information Team but will offer experiential insights into the work of our Policy and Public Affairs Teams and the campaigning work of a major trade association.  Our analyst role is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of Logistics UK’s Policy Team, representing the interests of companies in this vibrant sector.

 

Responsibilities
  • Data management and reporting: You will oversee the economics database and daily indicators, ensuring high standards of accuracy and relevance. Generate insightful reports and analyses from internal and external data sources for publications, media and member briefings.
  • Policy analysis: You will conduct economic, fiscal, and impact analysis to support Logistics UK’s policy positions.
  • Strategic project support: You will aid in the development and delivery of strategic projects, such as the Productivity Report and executive membership activities, which require a blend of analytical acumen and strategic thought.
  • Member engagement and service delivery: You will engage with members to provide tailored economic insights and support the execution of high-level briefings and events.
  • Collaboration and influence: You will work in tandem with policy, public affairs, and marketing teams to enhance Logistics UK’s position as a leader in economic matters within the sector.
  • Team: You will undertake other responsibilities commensurate with your role as required by the Deputy Director – Policy Information.

Requirements

  • Analytical excellence: You will have exceptional quantitative skills, with proficiency in statistical software and Excel, to handle complex data sets and time series analytical skills.
  • Communication: You will have strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate economic concepts clearly to non-specialists and influence internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborative working: You will have demonstrable ability to work effectively as part of a team, contributing to a cooperative work environment.
  • Proactivity and initiative: Eagerness to take on new challenges, suggest improvements, and drive forward projects.
  • Communication skills: You will have excellent writing skills in relation to the production of in-house reports, briefings and publications. Clear and concise presentational, communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Other skills: You will have the ability to work autonomously, prioritise and organise work and manage project workstreams to ensure deadlines are met. High attention to detail. 

Qualifications
  • A degree in a numerate discipline or a discipline with a high numerate content, such as economics, data analysis, or statistics is required. A postgraduate degree is desirable but not essential.

 

Desirable skills and experience
  • Experience in economic or data analysis or a related field, with a track record of applying analytical skills in a business or policy environment.
