Main duties of the job

The Gastroenterology service is seeking candidates who are keen to help develop specialist GI services such as upper gi, barrett's, pH monitoring / manometry, EUS, complex polypectomy whilst seeking to expand the ERCP service in East Kent. Colleagues with other specialist interests complimenting those already available are encouraged to apply. There are a number of posts being advertised in the service to support the implementation of seven day gastroenterology and endoscopic service.

The gastroenterology consultant teams provide a mix of ward cover on acute sites, supporting the Emergency floor with specialist care, perform daily board and ward rounds of patients on the specialist GI / hepatology ward supporting the delivery of SAFER. The team are supported by a compliment of specialist registrars, SHOs and FY1 doctor.

In addition to gastroenterology inpatient ward rounds, the post holder will perform OPD clinics per week and general endoscopy lists, plus a session dedicated to a specialist interest. Expertise in ERCP for one of the posts available would be welcomed and one session per week will be dedicated to this for the appropriate individual. The post holder may be expected to fulfil some of their clinical commitments on other sites in the Trust.
