SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) Teaching Assistant 

Location: Spilsby

Salary: £83.33 - £90.00 per day

Start Date: ASAP 

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people? GSL Education is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our client school in Spilsby. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist the classroom teacher in planning and delivering tailored learning activities.
  • Help to create a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment.
  • Support students in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour.
  • Monitor and record students’ progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Foster strong relationships with students, encouraging their confidence and self-esteem.
Requirements:
  • Experience working as an SEMH Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE or NVQ would be a plus but not essential.
  • A strong understanding of Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with students and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or child development are desirable.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
