We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable Advanced Healthcare Assistant to join our caring and progressive team in Gravesend Urgent Treatment Centre.

Our hospitals are nurse-led and focus on holistic rehabilitation and therapy for people who need extra help to get home, or who are nearing the end of their life.

It’s a relaxed atmosphere, but it’s never a breeze – you’ll need to think on your feet and be confident in making independent decisions on behalf of the patients in your care, under the direction of the nurse in charge.

Main duties of the job

Our Urgent Treatment Centres (UTC) are staffed by an experienced multidisciplinary teams including GP’s, Advanced Nurse and Emergency Nurse Practitioners, Paramedic Practitioners, Physiotherapists, Health Care Assistants and Receptionists.

The UTC will see a cohort of patients with minor to moderate injury 
and illness referred by the 111 service and those who choose to walk in.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

Relevant level 3 qualification (NVQ / QCF Diploma or certificate of care / Advanced apprenticeship) or equivalent. Evidence of HCA level wound care course completion. Functional Skills at Level 2 (Literacy and numeracy/ GCSE grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths)

Experience

Essential criteria

Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Healthcare Assistant / Worker in an acute / urgent, (UTC) healthcare setting. Experience of working as part of a team Experience with the use of Microsoft Office and a variety of IT packages (E-Pay / E-roster / AT-P / CIS)

Desirable criteria

ECG recording, urinalysis, blood glucose testing experience. Experience / competency in Plaster of Paris application

Knowledge

Essential criteria

Awareness of developments in the NHS Knowledge of up to date UTC clinical practice Understands the role and remit of Unregistered worker in the UTC service
