JMS Group employs 45staff undertaking civil & structural engineering designsand has been serving the Construction Industry for over 25years.

We have an opening for an ApprenticeStructural Engineer to join our team at our Ipswich office toundertake designs on a variety of projects from small domesticextensions to large multistorey apartment and office developments.Working alongside colleagues within the local office as well asthose in other parts of the Group you will be encouraged to developyour design experience and skills and be supported to obtainaccreditation to the Institute of Structural Engineers.

With project costs up to 12m and the use of the latestdesign software the role offers an exciting opportunity to engagein impactful highvalue projects. A competitive salary will beoffered commensurate with the importance of this role within ourcompany.

Responsibilities

  • Complete apprenticeship programme of learningand modular work predominantly in the workplace as well asattending external training courses to complimentlearning.
  • Develop knowledge of varying buildingtechniques and materials used.
  • With supportinterpret Engineers design briefs and with support and supervisionundertake design analysis and compiling reports in compliance withBritish Standards and Eurocodes.
  • Utiliseknowledge and initiative to identify solutions providing feedbackand contributing ideas within team.
  • Withdirection and supervision conduct site inspections and gatherrelevant data in order to compile comprehensivereports.
  • Maintain records and work folderensuring all work is checkedappropriately.
  • Communicate clearly andprofessionally with both internal and external clients building andmaintaining positive relations.
  • Attend internaldesign review meetings in accordance with companyprotocols.
  • Work within agreed deadlines whilstmaintaining accuracy and efficiency.
  • Grow anddevelop knowledge experience andinitiative.
  • Take responsibility for owndevelopment and CPD.

  • Good time management and organisationalskills to efficiently manageworkload.
  • Excellent spoken and writtenEnglish.
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UKand be able to demonstrate proof whenrequested.
