Job summary

There isan established clinical therapy team at Novalis Trust, which consists ofOccupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, ClinicalPsychologists, Social Workers and Psychotherapists. There are regular clinicaland therapy team meetings to discuss, share and track progress within theindividuals therapy and to document outcomes of therapeutic interventions.This post will provide opportunities to develop your professional skills whilstbeing supported through working in an established team of experiencedtherapists.

Main duties of the job

The rolewill involve providing integrated Occupational Therapy standardised andobservation-based assessments and delivering interventions. This may includeadvising on specialist equipment, developing programmes to help rebuilding lostskills and restore confidence, advising on domestic and work placeenvironmental alterations and coaching children in social skills and anxietyand behaviour management. In addition, a strong focus will be on implementingsensory regulation strategies working within a trauma informed and attachmentfocused model of approach.

Responsibilitiesfor this role:

The rolewould include occupational therapy assessment, observation and creatingtherapeutic support plans and goals for the children and young people.

Advising on specialist equipment needed to include domestic and workplace environmental alterations.

Developing programmes to help rebuild lost skills and restore confidence.

Opportunities to work alongside other therapists, to ensure the best outcome for the individual.

Job responsibilities

General duties

-Providing occupational therapy assessment and intervention for young people and residents as required

-Advising on specialist equipment

-Developing programmes to help rebuild lost skills and restore confidence

-Advising on domestic and workplace environmental alterations

-Coaching young people and residents in social skills, and anxiety and behaviour management

-Assisting and supporting the therapy provision throughout the Trust as required by the head of clinical services

-Writing up records and reports, and updating the database

-Providing information to assist completion of special reports

-Liaising as required with other professionals

-Attending complex needs meetings as required

-Attending meetings with the therapy department to discuss wider therapy issues as required

-Providing support and coaching to care staff regarding the therapeutic needs of students and residents.

-Managing a caseload, prioritising needs and completing administrative tasks

-To assist with the therapy provision within the trust through being flexible with working hours and location
