A rapidly improving secondary school located in the heart of Reading, Berkshire, is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Pastoral Leader to join their committed team from September 2024. This school prides itself on fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where every student is encouraged to reach their full potential.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the pastoral care of students, ensuring their well-being, and promoting a positive school culture. This role involves working closely with students, parents, and staff to address any pastoral issues, support student development, and contribute to the overall success of the school.

Key Responsibilities:
*Lead and manage the pastoral care system, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all students.
*Develop and implement strategies to support student well-being, attendance, and behaviour.
*Work collaboratively with teachers, senior leadership, and external agencies to provide comprehensive support to students.
*Monitor and track student progress, identifying any pastoral concerns and intervening as necessary.
*Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and the wider school community.
*Promote the school’s values and ethos, encouraging a positive and inclusive school culture.

Requirements:
*A teaching qualification (QTS) or experience in an educational environment.
*A relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
*Experience in a pastoral role within a secondary school setting.
*Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and student welfare.
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
*Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
*Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
*A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the school community.

Desirable Attributes:
*Experience in dealing with complex pastoral issues and working with external agencies.
*Knowledge of current educational policies and practices related to pastoral care.
