Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with the relevant experience to lead the Clinical Support Services Team, within the Nursing Care Quality Team at NHSBT.

The role enables an individual to be accountable for leading, managing and developing the clinical support team service and the Senior Nurse Practitioner’s for the site in Bristol.

You will work collaboratively with the organisation to meet the needs of donors by supporting the delivery of safe blood products and contributing to the wider development and strategic direction of the Clinical Support team.

The post holder is responsible for providing and managing a team that will provide excellent post donation product management and expert advice to NHSBT departments and external organisations

Taking a national view, this role enables autonomy of the succesful candidate to lead on key pieces of work engaging with internal and external stakeholders utilising clinical expertise, putting the patient and opportunities for continouous improvement at the heart of everything we do.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will be accountable for Leading, managing and developing the clinical support team service and the Senior Nurse Practitioner’s for the Bristol site. Your responsibilities will include:

Being subject matter clinical expert, with clear visibility in Blood Supply. Provide independent expert advice and support for others where appropriate regarding CST processes Establishing and maintaining a good professional working relationship with other Lead Senior Nurse Practitioners to ensure consistency across the service. Support, leadership, advice and to maintain lines of communication open to national CST colleagues. Leading, making decisions and maintaining the service to ensure that the donors and recipients receive safe, quality, and effective care. Providing and managing a team that will provide excellent post donation product management and expert advice to NHSBT departments and external organisations. Working collaboratively with the organisation to meet the needs of donors and supporting the delivery of safe blood products and contribute to the wider development and strategic direction of the Clinical Support team. Acting with a high level of autonomy, demonstrating critical thinking and skills in clinical decision making at a senior level

About You

Experience and Knowledge

Experience of planning and delivering teaching programmes within a clinical environment Evidence of successful improvement in service delivery, implementing and evaluating changes in clinical practice Project management/lead experience Substantial management and leadership experience in a clinical environment Substantial experience of education or training others Experience of managing a budget or working with budgets Experience of setting, monitoring and evaluating standards of care Experience initiating and supporting the professional development of others, including mentorship, coaching and presenting whilst maintaining own development. Knowledge of the principles of clinical effectiveness and best practice Knowledge of donor and patient safety initiatives, strategies and risks Knowledge of the principles of clinical audit, research, and a current understanding of developments within the wider NHS including benchmarking

Qualifications and Training

Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration (which must be maintained) as Adult Nurse level 1 or 2 or Children’s Nurse level 1. Management qualification or equivalent relevant experience Educated to Masters level, demonstrated by academic qualification OR extensive equivalent management and leadership at experience at a senior level and willingness to work towards a formal qualification
