London, United Kingdom Augmentum Fintech Full time
Application deadline: 12th June 2024

(Please note we are interviewing on a rolling basis)

Who we are

Augmentum Fintech plc is one of Europe’s leading venture capital investors focusing exclusively on the fintech sector. We back fast-growing fintech businesses at Series A and beyond that are disrupting the banking, insurance, asset management and wider financial services sectors, and actively work with our portfolio companies to help them achieve their potential. Our current portfolio of 26 leading fintechs includes the likes of Tide, Zopa, Grover, Volt and Farewill. Our exits to date include interactive investor, Cushon and Onfido.

We are the only listed fintech-focused venture capital firm in the UK, having launched on the main market of the London Stock Exchange in 2018. Our progressive structure gives businesses access to patient funding and support, unrestricted by conventional fund timelines.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for a dynamic and talented individual to join our investment team based in our London HQ. Our investment team is responsible for unearthing opportunities, and making, managing, and exiting investments in disruptive fintech businesses across Europe. This individual will work closely with the Partners to drive new investment activity and remain engaged with portfolio companies throughout the investment lifecycle. They will also be involved in the strategic development of Augmentum as we deliver on our ambition to continue scaling the fund in the years to come.

We are a close-knit team, the work environment is fun, fast-paced and entrepreneurial, and we have ambitious growth plans. This is a role with significant day-one responsibility, and requires someone who is not only a true team player but who also has the drive and self-motivation to work independently and carve out a position for themselves within the fund.

Scope of the role

Deal sourcing & execution

You will play a fundamental role in Augmentum’s investment activity, proactively sourcing and executing deals across Europe. You will drive the investment process, leading meetings and due diligence processes to critically assess opportunities and risks, and pulling in further resources from the team as needed. You will form strong relationships with founders and investors along the way that secure Augmentum’s position in competitive rounds.

Portfolio support

We are active investors and draw from operational experience in the fintech sector to deliver additional value beyond capital. You will draw on your personal experience and network, and that of the full team at Augmentum, to support portfolio companies post-investment. You will take on board positions and work with a number of portfolio companies.

Network, profile & representation

Your established network and strong reputation within the European fintech ecosystem will be fundamental to this role, enabling you to source compelling investment opportunities, conduct thorough due diligence, win competitive processes and provide excellent support to the portfolio. You will represent Augmentum at key industry events, and establish your own reputation as a thought leader in the fintech space. You will maintain and grow Augmentum’s standing as one of Europe’s leading fintech focused investment funds.

Firm building

You will lead team discussions on investment and portfolio topics, sharing high quality ideas and constructive feedback that helps support high-quality decision making across the firm. You will also shape strategy internally as we continue to scale the fund and mentor junior members of the team, helping them to develop leadership qualities within a strong and supportive team culture.

Requirements

  • Long-held interest and domain expertise in fintech and financial services, likely developed in an investment or operating role over a period of 4+ years
  • A deep fintech network; you are a natural networker who loves meeting new people and has a proven ability to build strong relationships
  • High IQ and EQ; you are equally capable of crunching the numbers and understanding the people side of every successful business
  • Transaction experience covering deal sourcing, due diligence and negotiation; you will be ready to hit the ground running on new deals from day one
  • Endless enthusiasm for supporting ambitious entrepreneurs to achieve their mission with both capital and strategic support
  • Ambition to play a central role in Augmentum’s continued scaling as one of Europe’s leading fintech focused funds
  • Excellent public speaking, communication, writing and presentation skills, that demonstrate independent thought leadership related to the fintech space - please include examples in your application (e.g. published blogs, speaking engagements)
  • A highly dependable, self-motivated team player who brings a can-do attitude to any challenge

If you don’t meet all the above requirements but think you can offer something that makes up for this, we’d love to hear from you. Augmentum is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or age.

Please note you must have the right to work in the UK to be eligible for this role.
