ABOUT THE POST:

An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Lancashire Cardiac Centre for an 18-month fixed term full-time training post in Echocardiography. This is part of the Echocardiography Training Programme (ETP) developed by the National School of Healthcare Science and funded by Health Education England.

Main duties of the job

Learning to perform and interpret Adult Echocardiograms.

Gain Level 2 Adult Accreditation with the British Society of Echocardiography

Performing routine diagnostic cardiac tests such as resting ECG

We recommend that all individuals employed in patient facing roles, or those located on a ward or department where patients receive a service should be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Job responsibilities

As a Trainee Echocardiographer you will be required to undergo an 18-month training program to become competent independent practitioner in the field of Echocardiography. Duties will include learning how to perform specialised cardiac investigations including Transthoracic Echocardiograms.

The candidate will look to start the program in September 2022 provided they meet the desired entry requirements.

You will be expected to develop your knowledge & skills using a variety of work based and University based learning. Completion of this training program will lead to a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Echocardiography with the intention of the trainee completing the British Society of Echocardiography Level 2 Adult Accreditation process.

Qualifications

Essential

A 1st or 2:1 in Cardiac Physiology (PTP) or a relevant scientific subject (examples include Pure or Applied Physics, Engineering, Biology or Human Biology, or Sports Science (if significant scientific content) or equivalent experience and appropriate underpinning knowledge and skills in cardiology.

Experience

Essential

Ability to analyse and assess scientific, technical and medical literature. Ability to analyse complex information.

Desirable

Work Experience in a Healthcare Setting Has an understanding of the role of an Echocardiographer in healthcare and disease and its application in a healthcare setting

Skills

Essential

Excellent Computer skills. Ability to work automatously Dynamic Enthusiastic Team Worker Ability to work flexibly to complete tasks required Excellent verbal & written communication Patient Focused Ability to maintain satisfactory level of attendance

Desirable

Knowledge of national professional and NHS guidelines relating to service provision and quality.
