We are recruiting into a full time Children's Well-Being Practitioners (CWP) to join the Buckinghamshire CAMHS Targeted Team. 

A children’s wellbeing practitioner (CWP) is a highly specialist role in a CAMHS team. The role is pivotal to enhancing accessibility to CAMHS by delivering low-intensity psychological interventions for mild to moderate low mood and anxiety disorders. The national Children and Young People’s Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) programme was developed following recommendations made in ‘Implementing the Five Year Forward View for Mental Health' plan, to provide evidence based interventions for children and young people.

Main duties of the job

The role is pivotal to enhancing accessibility to the Getting Help Targeted pathway in CAMHS by delivering low-intensity psychological interventions for mild to moderate low mood and anxiety disorders.

You will be expected to deliver assessments of children mental health including family and carers where required. You will be expected to complete mental health assessments, risk assessments, care plans, GP letters, and liaison with other agencies such as social care and schools. You will offer 1 to 1 CBT-informed evidence-based intervention to children and their families, both remotely and face to face in a range of bases in the community. There is also the chance to deliver CBT and informed groups. 

This role will require you to travel between community locations, you must therefore be comfortable with driving for work purposes and able to travel freely within the hours of the role. Applicants must have a full valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work. Adjustments can be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010 where required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post-holder will work within the Targeted Team, within the child and adolescent mental health service providing high volume low intensity interventions. The role is hybrid, meaning clinical work can take place in schools, the clinic base and on occasions, remotely. The role will involve offering a range of low intensity cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based treatments, along with offering assisted self-management interventions to young people with mild to moderate anxiety and depression.

The post-holder will also offer parent-led pieces of work, focusing on addressing challenging behaviour and child anxiety. The role will be focused on working with children, families, and the education setting. The post-holder will have opportunities to develop skills in working with schools and delivering on the whole community approach.

The role is pivotal to enhancing accessibility to CAMHS by delivering low-intensity psychological interventions for mild to moderate low mood and anxiety disorders. Assessing young people mental health needs.
