Exeter, United Kingdom Hoare Lea Full time

The Role

As a Senior Electrical Engineer you will be responsible for supporting and delivering designs for a range of project types and sizes. You will work within a multidisciplinary team of engineers and support staff delivering a consistent high-quality service for clients, ensuring that repeat and new business opportunities are developed and profitability is achieved.

You will be in a Client facing role, attending project meetings and disseminating the brief within the project team. You will need to be of personable nature and a good communicator.

Experience in the Education, Healthcare, Science and Research, Workplace and Public sectors will be of particular benefit in this role and any particular specialism would be welcomed.

You will lead the development of initial strategic concepts for projects ensuring solutions are appropriate for the brief and regulatory standards.

Taking responsibility for solid technical delivery in your work either alone or part of a team.

Engage with junior support staff in their day to day activities and offer advice and guidance to ensure that they develop their skills and we get the best out of our people.

You will be financially astute and work with the team leader to help monitor fee expenditure, resource and work delivered.

Looking at new ways of working and taking time out for innovation and research ensuring we keep abreast of our competitors.

Creating and maintaining a high reputation within the local industry, and to ensure adherence to QM and risk control procedures is also a very important part of the role.

About You

You should have a relevant degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent qualification and must have, or be working towards chartered status. Have membership of CIBSE/IET or industry recognised institution. You should have excellent technical knowledge in your primary discipline and a thorough understanding of Building Services Engineering and interdisciplinary design through all stages of the design process.

You will have experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment, leading, motivating, and supervising junior engineers.

With excellent interpersonal and communication skills you will have proven ability in negotiating positive outcomes, resource planning, motivation and people management.

With previous consultancy experience, you will appreciate the importance of complementary specialisms such as acoustics, fire engineering and Revit modelling in the design of buildings and be adept at analysing and interpreting their impact on your work.

Why Work For Us?

Our strategy is simple, we want to provide world-class engineering solutions on the best projects with great clients. We want the team to enjoy the projects they do and who they work with, so our portfolio is of high quality, varied and really interesting.

We have access to some of the UKs largest and highest profile projects. However, we also work independently and have developed long-term relationships with some great clients – there is no greater personal satisfaction from winning repeat projects from clients who think you’ve done a great job and like working with you.

The opportunities we provide for training and development are second-to-none. We invest significantly in this, and our aim is to ensure our team can achieve Chartered Engineer status. We have a highly experienced and qualified team to ensure that this can happen.

We really want everyone to have the right work-life balance and to enjoy their work. We enable this by having a great benefits and flexible working package – including the ability to work a 9-day fortnight, and by choosing only the best projects for great clients, supported by extensive training and experienced colleagues. We are a really friendly, supportive and inclusive team, and enjoy numerous socials with our office colleagues and with the fire engineering team.
